Italeri's newest boxing of its 1/35 scale DUKW kit
includes a 105mm howitzer mounted in the back of the vehicle.
The kit comprises seven sprues making up the DUKW,
which is identical to the initial release kit, and additional sprues for
the 105.
At first I thought this was just a method for
transporting the gun to shore, but apparently the guns were actually put
into action in this configuration as a sort of floating SPG! Interesting
subject.
The quality of the kit parts looks very good with
plenty of detail, but there is also potential for superdetailers to go
nuts.
The 105mm gun is an older kit, but a goodie. No
complaints from me on this, especially as the combination is so
interesting.
Also included is a length of rope to tie down the
howitzer, and three marking options. Two sets of decals are supplied for
European DUKWs, and one for Iwo Jima, which is wearing an especially
fetching three-tone finish.
This looks to be a great kit that can be
recommended to all.
Recommended.
Thanks to
Italeri for the review
sample.
