Creating tow cables for tanks can be a troublesome task. Styrene cables are
usually unconvincing, with seam lines and limited detail. Steel cables are
difficult to pose in a natural "slack" state as the metal is usually very stiff,
and it is hard to control small fibres from sticking out of cables made from
thread.
Karaya has released a new set of tow cables made from copper
wire. The set being reviewed is designed for modern Russian designed tanks, but
other nationalities are also available in the range.
Copper is much softer and more malleable than steel, so it can
be posed more easily. The strands are also very fine and convincingly
"in-scale". The cable is supplied in a single length, permitting the modeller to
cut two cables to their ideal dimensions.
Karaya also include four resin eyelets for the ends of the
cables. These look accurate for Soviet vehicles.
Karaya's tow cables are a simple but very effective accessory.
Highly Recommended.
