Italeri's 1/35 scale Panzer IV Ausf F1/F2
represents a bit of a nostalgia trip, as it is quite an old moulding.
However, it can still be built up into a decent representation of this
important variant with a little extra work.
The kit may be built as the short 75mm F1, or
with the distinctive round muzzle brake of the long 75mm as the F2
(sometimes referred to by Allied forces as the Panzer IV Special).

The major letdown of the kit is the old vinyl
tracks which do not easily glue and do not hold paint well.
Markings are supplied for 1 x F1 and 3 x F2s,
plus three figures from the old Italeri Afrika Korps set. The
instructions are quite clear and easy to follow.
There are better and more recent Panzer IV kits
available in 1/35 scale, but Italeri's Panzer IV Ausf. F1/F2 is
available at a good price, is easy to build and these combine to make it
still worhtwhile.
If I can find a set of replacement tracks I may
just build another one myself. It has been about 20 years since I built
my last Italeri Panzer IV!
