New from Squadron/Signal Publications is 6124, Air War Iraq Operation IRAQI FREEDOM by Lou Drendel.

The book is a pictorial history of the air campaign against Iraq. Text is minimal and, following a two-page introduction, is mainly confined to captions for the exceptionally clear photographs that make up the book. Especially welcome are the 'Order of Battle' pages that list the different squadrons involved.

The story of the air campaign is told through the captions and the photographs. The book is divided into sections covering USAF, USN, USMC, and US Army. Whilst the lion's share of photos cover these arms, the final seven pages cover the contribution made by the UK, Australia, and Kuwaiti involvement in the campaign

The photos seem to have been carefully chosen for their clarity as well as their ability to “tell a story” As a consequence, there are many, many shots that show the type of close-up detail that is valuable to the modeller.

The book contains 64 pages in A-4 format with full-colour cardboard covers.

There are 178 photos between the covers, of which 77 are in full colour.

Recommended.
