FirstRead

Whilst this is a 'Part 2' it is a stand-alone book in its own right.  Squadron/Signal continues their coverage of US Naval vessels and this book focuses on five classes of destroyers:

  • Farragut
  • Porter (wartime configuration)
  • Mahan
  • Fanning
  • Craven

The publication is in the familiar Squadron/Signal format consisting of 49 pages with full-colour cardboard covers and centre pages.  The text is logically set out and gives a full description and run-down of the development as well as the salient and recognition points of each class.

It’s all there and explained in a brief and concise manner that makes it easy to understand.  The text is supplemented by 101 black and white photos, 34 line drawings and seven colour profiles in the centre pages.

This is a good reference book at a good price.

Recommended.
